in March I had my first book review written about the Night Angel trilogy . The show had me so good that I pre-ordered the first part of the same Brent Weeks new series "Light Bringer".
" The Black Prism " appears on 25 August, Orbit and I'm really looking forward to it.
To help promote his book, the publisher a little online test to magic in the new world created. And because I support the author would like to, I post my result here:

So, with several months delay, here is the second review
This time: "The Steel Remains "By Richard K. Morgan.
It is a bit since I've read the book (around August), but I think everything should still get together, more or less. The novel deserves to be there at least reviewed.
"The Steel Remains" is a fantasy novel with a difference and sets the theme "dreckicge environment study, which I started with my first review, continued very well.
sure he has typical motifs (actually, you can get around not in the genre.'d Also pity, somehow. Fantasy lives but it known to recycle ideas. It's like the fairy tale. It ARE indeed fairy tales. only those who do not go beyond these motifs, they do not twist fail somewhere, as an original story) ... where was I? Oh! He certainly has typical motifs, but the style is rather unusual. This will probably be that Richard Morgan from the SciFi / noir detective novel is genre. I have read his other books yet, but according to a third party his fans love him just for his brutal style (in the SciFi / Noir is not so rare).
What do you mean, "unusual," "brutal"? I do not mean just the scenario but also some focus on sex and violence (more on that later) and a high consumption of verbal abuse. Some readers seems to mind. This is not necessarily in a "OMG. He said the F-word! "Way, but rather" Fuck so gangster n word. The rappers say so and so. This one has not said then. Total anachronistic! How come he does not write "The tail of the prophets"? This sounds much more like the Middle Ages. "
Yeah, because he is not the only one who is criticized for that. I say: This argument does not. No problem, if the word "fuck" someone too much reality and brings back so he does not like it, but to say that it is anachronistic, is nonsense. Besides the fact that fantasy worlds are usually left ajar to a sort of middle age, the European Middle Ages was characterized by the Christian faith. Any polygamist vows were so unrealistic and a "Oh, my God!" Could be seen as blasphemous. So, I'm saying is "fuck" "shit" and above all, and the like at the end likely to be in such a world. The book follows the story of three heroes who know each other but from the past, but only towards the end again to another meeting.
Ringil, the real protagonist is a by war and corruption in his home, disillusioned man, he is in many ways a classic anti-hero and, to my surprise, gay. second main person is Archeth, a half blood of another missing people that were stranded once with their space ships in this world and after the great war again break into her home looking for. Archeth remained, and serves as a regent since the unsympathetic Counselor of the technology, leaving their people. achieved when one day confused rumors of an attack on a magical kingdom of Hafensatdt the yard, she is finally sent to investigate the matter.
The last of the characters is Egar, dragon slayer and head of a warlike nomadic tribe, whose new ideas and values but does not hit every time an award. While his brothers forge behind his back plans to overthrow him, waiting a Takavach, a demon, a walking God with a message for him.
Conclusion: Well, as I said, a dirty world, a dirty story, and depraved heroes. Certainly not to everyone's taste, but I'll definitely buy the sequel when it appears. It is not a typical fantasy novel and I think it's just interesting to read such a story from the perspective of time and with the voice of an author who writes otherwise rather sci-fi / noir. And
to final To quote Joe Abercrombie, because I find his statement so aptly: Bold, brutal, and making no compromises - Morgan does not so much twist the cliches of fantasy as take an ax to them. Then set them on fire.
